Boutari Santorini Winery

The Boutari Winery in Santorini, with its characteristic white dome, started its operation in 1989, and has played a leading role in the viticultural development of the island. Open to the public it offers to visitors an exclusive tour with wine tasting of the wines of Santorini paired with local dishes, making the visit a truly unforgettable experience.

The winery is situated in Megalochori, near Akrotiri. The signs and testimonies of winemaking date back to the prehistoric era of the island, before the volcanic eruption around 1.500 B.C.

In the mid-1980s, the Boutari family began its experimentation and devoted itself to the Santorini vineyard. There, the insightful eye of an experienced Greek winemaker identified an important wine-growing zone with great potential and high-quality wine production prospects.

Its primary objective was to establish the qualitative standars for the production of the PDO Santorini and to apply vinification techniques previously unknown to the area.
